Bayonet
Built for the Army on Fort Ord in 1954 and rebuilt by Gene Bates in a $13-million 2008 renovation, Bayonet has long carried a reputation as the hardest golf on the Monterey Peninsula—narrow corridors framed by oak and cypress, and steep, penal bunkering that punishes a miss.
It's a genuine championship test that has hosted PGA Professional and NCAA events, minutes inland from the coast and open to the public.
