Chambers Bay

Chambers Bay is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. links routed through a converted sand-and-gravel quarry on Puget Sound, and at 7,158 yards from the tips it's one of the longest courses you'll play—a stage substantial enough that it hosted the 2015 U.S. Open.

It's county-owned and open to the public, walking-only, with fescue turf that runs hard and fast in the Pacific Northwest wind.

The 5th earns its name: the ground pitches away down the dunescape toward Puget Sound, the tumbling fescue and the course's lone fir tree—the only tree on the property—standing out against the water. It's the view that put Chambers Bay on television, and a drop steep enough to make club selection a guess.
