Fields Ranch East is Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner's big swing in North Texas: a par-72 that stretches to 7,860 yards, with smallish greens, blended-in bunkering, and Panther Creek waiting on the back nine. The PGA of America built it to hold majors, and it already has a full slate—the Senior PGA, the Women's PGA, and the men's PGA Championship in 2027 and 2034.
For everyone else it's a walk-with-a-caddie championship test (caddies are required) that rewards driving accuracy and a feel for the ever-present North Texas wind. Play it from a tee that fits your game—it drops all the way to 4,790 yards—and the strategy holds at every length.
Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner gave Fields Ranch East smallish greens ringed by big, rugged, native-grass-edged bunkers that blend into the North Texas prairie—the kind of wild-looking sand that makes the course photograph like a links and play like a puzzle. Miss the green and the recovery is rarely simple; the wind decides the rest.
