Great Waters came early in Jack Nicklaus's design career—it opened in 1992—and carries his trademarks: strong visuals and risk-reward decisions along the water. An 18-month restoration wrapped in 2019, modernizing the layout while keeping the back nine tracing the shoreline of Lake Oconee.
It plays 7,436 yards from the Golden Bear tees, the longest of the resort five. Water dictates much of the routing, and elevated tees open up lake views while asking for accuracy into narrow fairways and well-bunkered greens.
