The Ocean Course is Kiawah's flagship and one of the most demanding, most scenic layouts in the country. Alice Dye's idea to raise the holes above the dunes gave nearly every hole an unobstructed Atlantic view; ten run right along the coast, where the wind can swing club selection by several clubs on the same shot.
It hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup—its very first event—then the 2012 and 2021 PGA Championships, the 2021 setup stretching to a major-record length. It's regularly rated among the best public courses in America, and just as regularly among the hardest.
Greens are scheduled for aeration 20–31 July 2026.
