Old Macdonald
The most expansive canvas at Bandon—Old Macdonald borrows the great template holes of golf’s golden age and lets them breathe across open, rumpled ground. Fairways run forty yards wide; the trouble is all in the angles.
Play it early, when the greens are soft and the wind is still deciding. Miss on the correct side, chase your ball into the huge greens, and don’t be surprised to see a par-3 stretch past 200 yards or a Cape hole tempt you over the gorse. It rewards imagination over precision.
The dead tree on the ridgeline is your only aim line off the third—an Old Mac landmark and a true test of nerve off the tee. Trust it, swing, and let the ground do the rest.
Greens are scheduled for aeration 6–8 October 2026, with roughly 14 days of recovery after. Expect normal green speeds from about 22 Oct.
