The Nicklaus Tournament Course is the resort-accessible Nicklaus design at PGA West, distinct from the members-only Nicklaus Private layout next door. Jack Nicklaus routed it with generous landing areas off the tee that funnel into demanding, water-guarded approaches, so the difficulty ramps up the closer you get to the green. It plays to 7,204 yards at par 72 and once shared American Express (then Bob Hope) hosting duties with the Stadium and other valley courses.
Elevated greens, bold mounding and lakes that pinch several targets give it a championship feel without the Stadium's outright menace. The desert-and-mountain panorama is the constant PGA West backdrop, and the round asks for smart tee selection—play the wrong markers and the forced carries pile up fast. For guests it's a marquee name at a slightly more forgiving pitch than the Stadium.
