The Preserve was the inaugural course at Reynolds Lake Oconee—Bob Cupp laid it out with player consultants Fuzzy Zoeller and Hubert Green, and it opened in 1988. It moves through wooded, rolling ground, and a 'Quick Six' course-within-a-course was later added for a short tactical loop.
At 6,674 yards it's the shortest of the resort five, but the rolling terrain and bunkering hold the challenge. It plays more intimate than Great Waters or The Oconee, with tighter corridors and fewer forced carries; a 2016 renovation freshened the greens and surrounds.
