Great Dunes
Great Dunes is one of the oldest oceanfront courses on the Georgia coast and the last routing Walter Travis ever drew, opened in 1928. Storms and erosion swallowed the back nine by the 1950s—part of it became a Holiday Inn—and for decades only a nine-hole fragment survived.
Brian Ross and Jeff Stein rebuilt it as a full eighteen for a November 2025 reopening, folding land from the retired Oleander course into Travis's original nine. It plays wide-open and firm through the dunes, out to the ocean and back, framed by conservation-sensitive maritime forest—strategic, walkable, and unmistakably Golden Age.
