Hilton Head is where Pete Dye made his name. Harbour Town Golf Links—low, tight and hemmed by live oaks—finishes on one of golf's most photographed holes: a long approach across the marsh to a green beneath the candy-striped lighthouse on Calibogue Sound. It hosts the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage every spring, and its tiny greens and shot-shaping demands still humble anyone who mistook a short course for an easy one.
Beyond Harbour Town the island is stacked. Sea Pines adds Pete Dye's Heron Point and Davis Love III's dune-rolled Atlantic Dunes, while Palmetto Dunes fields a Robert Trent Jones original with a rare oceanfront hole, George Fazio's tight par 70, and an Arthur Hills course through the oaks. Between rounds there's twelve miles of beach, the Sea Pines Forest Preserve and Harbour Town's marina—a full Lowcountry golf week without leaving the island.
